DVMA strives to be THE advocate for the veterinary professional community in Delaware and to advance the quality of life for animals.

The Purpose of DVMA

It is the mission of DVMA to be a community of veterinary practitioners and support staff that collaborate to provide mentorship, education, and legislative advocacy in order to promote best practices of veterinary medicine, personal well-being, and animal health and welfare.

What Members are Saying

Joining DVMA when I first came to Delaware to practice was one of the best professional decisions I could have made!  It provided the ability to network and make quick connections that have benefited me for many years.    I look forward to the conferences to reconnect, learn and grow from my fellow colleagues.  DVMA provides the opportunity for us all to be a cohesive group within our small state.

How DVMA
Can Help

Continuing Education

DVMA is the exclusive provider of continuing education opportunities in Delaware.  Earn all required CE credits without leaving the state while learning from leaders in veterinary medicine from across the country.  DVMA hosts 3 annual conferences, providing up to 18 hours of approved CE credit each year.

Communication

DVMA strives to keep you informed on local, state, and national news affecting the veterinary profession.  All members receive a monthly electronic member alert and bi-annual printed newsletters.  Urgent local issues, legislative updates, practice management tips, AVMA news, product recalls, job announcements and more are provided to keep you practicing at your best!  Additionally, DVMA maintains a Facebook page, posting timely updates and news as well as content you can share with your clients.

Advocacy

DVMA is your exclusive advocate on the legislative and regulatory issues that impact your practice.  The Government Relations Committee (GRC) actively and consistently works on your behalf to protect and enhance the veterinary profession in Delaware.  All members are welcome to join GRC committee members on visits to Legislative Hall, approximately 4-5 times a year.  In addition, DVMA hosts and annual Legislative Reception, also open to all members.  CLICK HERE to learn more.

Additionally, DVMA is represented on a national level through it’s Delegate and Alternate Delegate to the AVMA’s House of Delegates.  Our delegates ensure that Delaware’s voice is heard as national policies and initiatives are developed that impact the practice of veterinary medicine.

You can make a difference in Delaware’s veterinary profession by becoming actively involved in a committee, writing newsletter articles, helping to plan annual conferences, serving as a County Representative, or taking office on the DVMA Board of Directors.  Volunteer opportunities are exclusively available to DVMA members.  CLICK HERE to learn more.
