Animal Hero Award: Companion

The Animal Hero Award: Companion is presented to animals that have provided a benefit to their human companions or community.

The following must be included with each nomination:

1. A completed application/nomination form with examples of how the animal has proven to be deserving of the award by displaying exemplary loyalty or companionship
2. A letter of support from the animal’s veterinarian on practice letterhead
3. Any of the following: additional letters of support, photographs, videos, newspaper articles, or other evidence of the good work of the animal

A Delaware connection (for the owner and/or veterinarian) is required.

• Submission of nomination implies release of photographs/videos and information for the purposes of publicity. Please do not send originals as they will not be returned.

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS: March 15, 2026

Award recipients will be notified by email in late March. Awards will be presented during the DVMA Spring Conference luncheon on April 30, 2025 at Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown, Delaware.
