This lecture will provide an overview of pain recognition, physiology, and some of the pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceutical methods we can use to treat and manage it.

 

Speaker: Jan Ginsky, VMD, CVPP
Senior Technical Services Veterinarian, Field Veterinary Services, Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health
Dr. Jan Ginsky has been a member of Merial’s (now Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health’s) veterinary team since November, 2005.  Her experience ranges from small and large animal practice to industry positions involving nutrition, business development, pharmaceuticals, biologicals, and parasiticides.  She is a resource to provide education and training on all of the above, and, as a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner, has a special focus on pain management.  Outside of Boehringer Ingelheim, Dr. Ginsky has served in numerous leadership positions such as president of the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, as well as having been on its Executive Board, Board of Directors, Membership Committee, and Chair of its Public Relations Committee.  Dr. Ginsky earned her BS in Animal Science from Cornell University and achieved her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania.  She also completed an internship in Large Animal and Surgery at Washington State University and is a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner from the International Veterinary Association of Pain Management.

 

Continuing Education Credit
2.0 hours of approved continuing education credit will be offered through the Delaware Veterinary Medical Association.
