P/T Equine Veterinary Technician

Delmarva Equine Clinic (Dover, DE) is seeking a part-time equine veterinary technician.

This would be a great position, for a person who is experienced and has a love for everything equine. Our practice serves a wide range of patients, from regularly scheduled appointments, to the pop up emergencies. Our day could take us from southern New Castle county, south to Maryland, and/or from the east coast of Delaware to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The technician we are looking for, is someone who is available to work 1 or 2 days per week, and could include Saturday mornings.

The perfect fit for this equine technician, is someone who is flexible to the ever changing needs of the day’s appointments. Must have knowledge of equine practices and the basic knowledge of large animal handling. Will need to be physically able to lift up to 40 pounds.

This is a part time position, with changing hours, depending on the seasons of our horse enthusiasts.

A list of some of the responsibilities include:

  • Assist the veterinarian by holding, vaccinating, and drawing blood on horses
  • Cleaning the inside and outside of the trucks, general cleaning of pharmacy.
  • Re-stocking the trucks and plugging them in at the end of every day
  • Keeping track of the controlled drugs by recording them in the controlled drug log in each vehicle
  • Fill out lab and coggins forms properly
  • Record and ensure all blood, fluid, biopsies etc., are put in proper place and are sent out
  • Write up invoices and post to laptop
  • Make copies of lab results and report to Doctor
  • Clean up after every appointment and make sure all items are gathered and back in trucks (twitch, needles, etc.)
  • Clean and sterilize surgery instruments, i.v. tubing and castration packs
  • Other duties could be assigned depending on skill level

Veterinary Receptionist

Rehoboth Beach Animal Hospital is seeking a veterinary receptionist to join our team. Receptionists should have proven customer service experience, strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to maintain a calm, courteous and professional demeanor under stressful circumstances. Receptionists must execute tasks with great attention to detail and thoroughness.

Major Duties:

  • Answer phones
  • Greet clients
  • Client correspondence:
  • Coordinate patient flow maintain appointment schedule
  • Prepare records for upcoming appointments.
  • Check clients in
  • Document reason for the visit and related history.
  • Verify vaccination history and inform client if vaccines are necessary.
  • Prepare all necessary paperwork including medical record documentation
  • Check clients out
  • Make sure the client has all medication and personal belongings when discharged. Inquire if clients need any supplies (heartworm preventive, food, etc.),
  • Inform clients of their account balances and process payments in the computer and through the credit card machine and cash drawer
  • Update records in computer daily

Requires strong communication and motivational skills. Must have the ability to direct, guide and assist a group of individuals. Requires the ability to show unbiased judgment when managing people and to make fair and just recommendations in regards to personnel issues and/or disciplinary action.

Experience Veterinary Surgical Technician

Rehoboth Beach Animal Hospital has an immediate Full Time opening in our Surgery Department. We are a busy small animal practice, the majority of our patients are cats and dogs but we do occasionally see exotics. Our goal is to provide the highest level of patient care and client service.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide clinical anesthesia and surgical care on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that patient work-ups are completed and patients are anesthetized in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with members of other services to ensure collaborative patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and knowledgeably with doctors and coworkers about the status and condition of patients under their care.
  • Safe and humane animal restraint.
  • Medicating Patients.
  • IV and Urinary Catheterization.
  • Intubation / Extubation.
  • Anesthesia Monitoring.
  • IV fluid therapy.
  • Diagnostic sampling and processing.
  • Data / Record Entry.
  • Inventory management and replenishment.
  • Proficiency in small animal dental cleaning and dental procedures under general anesthesia.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed veterinary technician in the state of Delaware
  • Veterinary experience in surgery/anesthesia: minimum of 3 years.
  • Competency in managing a variety of surgery cases including unstable patients.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist in lifting patients over 50 pounds.
